Virtualization and integration
Cisco WebEx Conferencing Server is a software-based virtualization solution that runs on Cisco UCS x86 servers and VMware. The solution uses virtual appliance technology to quickly help customers deploy services. The following two options help users securely access WebEx meetings without a VPN:
Deploying a reverse proxy (Edge Server) in an enterprise perimeter network (DMZ)
Deploy a reverse proxy (edge server) behind the internal firewall, eliminating the need for any enterprise perimeter network (DMZ) components, eliminating the associated security and information security concerns
In addition, simple port forwarding is used on ports 80 (HTTP) and 443 (SSL) to minimize the number of ports that need to be opened on external and internal firewalls. In addition, the back-end server integrates with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (UCM) for high-quality conference calls.
