Features and functions
Today's cloud applications need another, better architecture. Computing capabilities need to be pulled out of the infrastructure in order to increase density, enable easier expansion, and provide the perfect design for management, efficiency, and performance.
The UCS M-Series Modular Server is designed with a focus on highly parallel workloads, especially in the areas of cloud, online gaming, multivariable computing, and HPC.
This unique new design separates the various underlying components, eliminating the complexity of traditional servers. In the past, local resources (such as hard drives, I / O, backplanes, and network controllers) that were not in place or over-deployed in traditional servers were now aggregated and shared among the compute nodes.
These subcomponents are:
power supply
Cooling
I / O
Hard disk drive
management
Cisco isolates existing subsystems from other compute nodes from other solutions and is fully integrated into the infrastructure. The separation of the components of the UCS M-Series modular server platform eliminates the lifecycle interference between the various component subsystems. You no longer have to replace the entire system in order to update or refresh the processor, hard disk, or I / O.
In the UCS M Series, you can scale your subsystems in subtle increments to optimize the application performance by optimizing the ratio between compute, I / O, and storage. The new design also allows small-scale expansion to meet the application requirements for the number of compute nodes, in order to achieve the required performance and usability. No longer over-configuration, no longer a waste of resources.
With this groundbreaking design, the UCS M Series can create a high-density, modular energy-saving platform that meets the needs of a variety of parallel workloads. The M Series offers:
Performance and power saving
Computing power and floor space per unit rack
The UCS M-Series Modular Server System is based on Cisco's innovations in virtual interface card (VIC) technology, with a new 2RU chassis. The Cisco UCS M4308 modular chassis is interconnected to a single Cisco UCS array through the UCS Manager for easy scalability and industry-leading UCS management.
Cisco UCS Manager has won numerous awards for managing the M-Series in a simple and consistent way. UCS Manager is a model-based automated component management tool that can be easily integrated with a variety of advanced tools through the Cisco Open XML API.
You no longer have to buy expensive and time-consuming professional services to expand your computing power. With the Cisco M Series modular server solution, you can easily scale without spending a lot of money.
