Automatically sets network settings programmatically
The Cisco Application Policy Infrastructure Controller (Cisco APIC) unifies automation and management of application-centric infrastructure (ACI) arrays. Cisco APIC provides centralized access to all array information, optimized application lifecycle for scalability and performance, and flexible application provisioning for physical and virtual resources.
Application-level centralized control for network, security, and network service automation
Provides a common policy and management framework across physical, virtual, and cloud infrastructures
Open architecture (open APIs and standards) that integrates Layer 4-7 services, virtualization and management vendors
OpenStack, enabling development operations to easily enforce policy visibility and control
Application awareness, mobility, integrated visibility and control
Properly implement multiple leasing security, quality of service (QoS), and high availability
Designed for automation, programmability, and centralized management, Cisco APIC provides a northbound API through XML and JSON. It provides a command line interface (CLI) and a GUI, both of which use the API to fully manage the array. In addition, the system also provides open source south API, allowing third-party network service providers through the Cisco APIC on the provision of equipment to implement policy control.
Cisco APIC provides:
A single management platform for managing application-centric network policies
Array image management and inventory
Applications, leasing and topology monitoring
Troubleshooting
The Cisco APIC is completely removed from the data path. This means that the array can still forward traffic even if Cisco APIC traffic is down.
