A single voice network platform
Cisco IOS gateways that use Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) provide industry-leading technology that conforms to the SIP IETF standard and provide a single, comprehensive platform for integrating with branch, enterprise, and carrier networks. The deployment of the gateway to meet the needs of today's voice network, and in the future benefit from emerging applications.
The Cisco IOS gateway provides media stream switching between the PSTN and IP networks using SIP, with greater interoperability and enhanced investment protection with the following features:
QoS and Call Admission Control - Includes DSCP Packet Tagging, IP Precedence, Low Latency Ordering (LLQ), Weighted Fair Queuing (CBWFQ) based on Class of Service, Quality of Service Assurance, Response Time Reporting, Resource Availability Checking and Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP).
Emergency and resiliency - Support for automatic switching of traffic to PSTN interfaces on branch office routers in the event of a connection failure to the primary SIP proxy or back-to-back user agent.
Multi-protocol support - Supports SIP, MGCP and H.323 protocols, providing flexibility in network design and simplifying protocol migration.
Simplify configuration and management - Simplify configuration and management with a familiar Cisco command line interface that can be configured with various management tools such as CiscoWorks.
